Model-Based Systems Engineer

Job Title: Model-Based Systems Engineer
Job ID: JA002
Location: Remote
Position Type: Full-Time / Permanent

About Us:

At ModAsfa, we specialise in providing advanced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Systems Safety services across a range of high-stakes industries, including aerospace, defense, automotive, and more. Our consultancy is driven by a commitment to delivering effective, innovative, and safety-critical solutions that ensure the integrity and performance of complex systems throughout their lifecycle.

We are looking for a Model-Based Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the integration of model-driven techniques into the systems engineering process. This role will provide an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects that shape the future of engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Model Development: Create, validate, and maintain system models using industry-standard tools (e.g., SysML, UML, MATLAB/Simulink) to represent the system architecture, behaviour, and requirements.

  • Systems Analysis & Design: Apply MBSE techniques to develop detailed system models that support system design, integration, verification, and validation.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and safety engineers, to ensure that system models accurately represent and support the desired system behaviour and requirements.

  • Requirements Management: Develop and manage system requirements using models, ensuring traceability between system requirements, design, and verification activities.

  • Model Integration: Integrate system models with other engineering disciplines (e.g., software development, system safety, etc.) to ensure coherence and synchronization throughout the development lifecycle.

  • Model Verification & Validation: Lead the process of verifying and validating models through simulation, testing, and analysis to ensure that systems meet both functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to the improvement of MBSE methodologies, processes, and tools to enhance system design and delivery efficiency.

  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare and deliver technical documentation and reports on model development, system analysis, and validation results.

Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

  • Strong experience in Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), with hands-on experience using tools like MagicDraw, Cameo, SysML, UML, or similar.

  • Experience in developing and managing system models for complex engineering systems, including architecture, behaviour, and performance.

  • Understanding of system lifecycle management, requirements management, and traceability.

  • Familiarity with systems engineering processes and standards (e.g., DoDAF, MoDAF, ISO 15288).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with additional modelling tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, Enterprise Architect, or similar.

  • Familiarity with system verification and validation methods, including simulation, testing, and performance analysis.

  • Experience in the aerospace, defense, or automotive sectors.

  • Knowledge or awareness of safety-critical systems and related standards (e.g., ISO 26262, DO-178, IEC 61508).

  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers on MBSE methodologies and best practices.

Why Join ModAsfa?
  • Innovative Work: Work on cutting-edge projects in industries that impact safety, security, and innovation.

  • Professional Development: Access to continuous learning, certifications, and professional growth opportunities in MBSE and systems engineering.

  • Flexible Work Environment: We offer flexible work options, including remote work and hybrid arrangements, to help you maintain a healthy work-life balance.

  • Collaborative Team: Join a team of highly skilled professionals who are passionate about delivering quality, model-driven engineering solutions.
