About Us:

At ModAsfa, we specialise in providing advanced Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Systems Safety services across a range of high-stakes industries, including aerospace, defense, automotive, and more. Our consultancy is driven by a commitment to delivering effective, innovative, and safety-critical solutions that ensure the integrity and performance of complex systems throughout their lifecycle.

We are currently seeking a Systems Safety Engineer to join our team and play a key role in the safety planning and risk management of our client's systems. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring safety-critical systems meet the highest safety standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Management: Develop and implement comprehensive system safety plans to manage safety risks across system lifecycles, ensuring compliance with relevant safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882E).

  • Risk Assessment: Conduct in-depth hazard analysis, including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) to identify and mitigate safety risks.

  • Safety Requirements Definition: Define safety requirements for complex systems and ensure these are integrated throughout the engineering process, from concept through to final system delivery.

  • System Safety Program Planning: Lead the creation of System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs) and manage safety reviews to track the implementation of safety controls and compliance.

  • Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including systems engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders, to ensure that all safety requirements are incorporated into the system design and operational processes.

  • Compliance & Certification: Support the certification and approval processes for safety-critical systems, ensuring that all safety assessments meet necessary regulatory standards.

  • Incident Investigation & Reporting: In the event of system failures or safety incidents, lead investigations, analyse root causes, and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Key Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Systems Safety, or a related field.

  • Proven experience as a Systems Safety Engineer, ideally within industries such as aerospace, defense, or automotive.

  • Strong knowledge of safety standards such as ISO 26262, IEC 61508, MIL-STD-882E, ARP 4761, and DO-178.

  • Experience in conducting FMEA, HAZOP, FTA, and other risk assessment techniques.

  • Solid understanding of safety lifecycle processes, including hazard analysis, risk mitigation, and safety verification.

  • Experience in preparing and reviewing System Safety Program Plans (SSPP).

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex safety data into actionable safety measures.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear safety reports and communicate with stakeholders at all levels.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in Systems Safety Engineering, such as Certified Systems Safety Professional (CSSP).

  • Experience working with safety-critical systems in high-regulation industries (e.g., defense, aerospace).

  • Knowledge of safety certification processes for both commercial and military applications.

  • Familiarity with risk-based decision-making tools and techniques.
